Newham Green Party have commented on the announcement that Mayor Rokhsana Fiaz OBE is not standing as a candidate for the Mayor of Newham in next May’s mayoral elections:
“Working to serve your community should always be commended, and Newham Green Party commends Mayor Fiaz on her years of service to Newham,” Green councillor Areeq Chowdhury said. “Newham Greens will continue to scrutinise the Labour administration for the remainder of her term and challenge Labour councillors on their numerous and significant failures. These failures include a dire financial situation, dangerously poor social housing provision, and weak governance processes. At the May election, the Green Party will offer the people of Newham the opportunity to vote for real hope, real change, and for a Council which truly serves the needs of our borough”.
